1. Essential Documentation: The First Thing in Your Suitcase

Before thinking about clothes, you must secure the documents that will allow you to travel and reside with complete peace of mind and legal security. Keep these in your carry-on luggage:

• Valid Passport: It must be valid for at least one year before your travel date. We also advise you to bring a photocopy just in case.
• Health insurance card and medical insurance: Carry a printed copy of your private medical insurance policy and save all assistance contact numbers on your mobile phone.
• Parental consent form: If you are a minor, it is essential to carry the original document signed by your parents.
• Emergency numbers: Save the contact details for My Language Quest Spain, your local coordinator in Ireland, your host family or boarding school, and your parents on your phone.
• Cash: We recommend carrying between €100 and €150 for minor unexpected expenses or cafes during your first few days.

• What NOT to bring: Avoid carrying Spanish textbooks. All the books you need will be handed to you directly at your Irish school when you start the term.
• Toiletries and health: Shower gel, shampoo, a toothbrush, deodorant, moisturizer, sunscreen, and 1 or 2 of your own towels. If you take regular medication, bring it along with its prescription translated into English.
