Newark (EWR) is the program's primary airport because all welcome operations are centralized there: included transfers, hotel coordination, and support staff. If the flight arrives at JFK or LaGuardia (LGA), an additional $100 fee applies for transportation to the meeting point.
Arrivals are scheduled within a specific window: between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. This guarantees that our welcoming team is on-site to handle any situation and ensures no student is ever left waiting alone.
For students traveling as unaccompanied minors, a dedicated airport pick-up and drop-off service is available ($100 each way, with prior notice).
Before settling in with their host family, students attend the NYC Welcome Camp—a 4-day, 3-night orientation camp organized by Belo USA Travel, featuring cross-cultural training led by GAP Academy.
This first contact with the United States cushions the culture shock before meeting the family. The itinerary follows a clear structure:
The program includes shared room accommodation (4 students per room), breakfast and dinner, charter bus transportation around New York, transfers to and from Newark, and continuous supervision by a Belo USA coordinator. Flights to the US are not included, but everything that happens once you set foot on American soil is.
