Why is Ireland the top destination for a high school year abroad?
Si buscas el equilibrio perfecto entre excelencia académica, inmersión lingüística y facilidad logística, estudiar en Irlanda es la respuesta. Para muchas familias, este destino
If you are thinking about studying in the United States with a J1 or F1 visa, you surely have many questions. Here we have gathered clear and direct answers to the most common questions so you can make the best decision.
Many parents ask us if they can choose the state, the city, or even the family where their child will live during the course. And here comes the key difference between programs:
In the J1 program, the host family is a volunteer, which is why the exact location cannot be chosen. Preferences can be indicated (type of climate, rural or urban areas, sports...), but it is never guaranteed.
Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. Many times, the least expected destinations end up being the most enriching.
If what you are looking for is to choose the city, school, or type of family, then the F1 program is the right option.
It is a very common concern for both parents and students. But the first thing is to stay calm: you are not trapped.
Most of the time, it is just an adaptation period. However, if there is a serious problem or simply no connection, a change can be requested.
In both J1 and F1, there is a local coordinator who monitors the situation and can intervene. And with us, you will also have 24/7 support from Spain.
Important: Changes are not made on a whim. But if there is a justification, the protocols are activated.
Don't panic! Many students travel with a lower-intermediate level and improve rapidly thanks to immersion.
For the J1 program, a preliminary interview is conducted to ensure the level is sufficient. For the F1 program, it can be reinforced beforehand or even combined with English classes.
Besides, during the first few months, teachers and families understand that you are in the process of adapting. Nobody expects you to speak perfectly from day one.
Yes. And what's more, we take care of everything.
All My Language Quest programs are designed so that, upon returning to Spain, you can validate the trimester, semester, or full academic year without any problems.
Did you know that you can choose subjects like cooking, robotics, drama, or psychology? The American system offers an incredible variety that combines core mandatory subjects with highly creative electives.
In both J1 and F1, you can take subjects like Mathematics, English, History… but also Photography, Journalism, or Forensic Science!! Additionally, there are clubs, sports, and activities that greatly enrich the experience.
The answer is short: yes (though with some nuances).
In the J1 program, visits must be made outside of the school calendar (for example, during Christmas or at the end of the course). And always with the authorization of the local coordinator and the organization.
In the F1 program, being private, there is more flexibility. Some schools even organize open house days for parents.
That said, we recommend that the student has an initial adaptation period without visits to encourage their integration.
